Buns and Braids - Disney in your Day

One of my favorite places to shop is Etsy, and they are an amazing place to find cute Disney-inspired stuff.  Lately I’ve been loving Disney inspired hair bows as an easy way to add a little Disney to an outfit, or to complete a Disney Bound.  There are lots of shops with Disney hair bows, but one that stood out to me as unique and special was Buns and Braids.

Buns and Braids - Disney in your Day

Buns and Braids has a number of bows inspired by different Disney characters.  Many of their designs are subtle, incorporating the colors of the character, so they are great for Disney bounding.  They are also available in three different sizes – small, medium, and large – so you can pick a style that works well for you.  You can also select if you’d like your bow on an alligator clip or elastic band.  Certain styles are also available on a headband.  Mine are on the clip, which I love because it makes them very versatile!

They look lovely in the photos, but are even more stunning in person!  They have lots of sparkle and glitter to them, and it’s clear that they’re very well made.  It’s not the kind of glitter that gets everywhere either – as much as I love sparkle, I don’t need to be picking it out of my hair (or my contacts).  These give you the sparkle without the hassle.

Buns and Braids - Disney in your Day

There are hair bows to represent many of the Disney Princesses, as well as classics like Mickey and Minnie.  You’ll also find other fun characters, including Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and Moana.  They seem to be adding more character all the time, so keep an eye out for more of your favorites!  In addition to the Disney bows they have a variety of bows for other occasions too.  There’s a lovely selection of fall bows right now, and I imagine we’ll see some fun Christmas ones as well!

Buns and Braids - Disney in your Day

I was sent Elsa, Belle, and Minnie Mouse bows.  Elsa’s is a simple but perfect ice blue that would match her dress well.  With Belle being my favorite princess, this is probably my favorite of the bows I received.  It’s a lovely shade of gold with a red rose right in the middle.  And Minnie Mouse is super fun – I have a red dress with a Minnie Mouse design on it, and I think wearing this bow will go perfectly with that!

Buns and Braids - Disney in your Day

I’ve been wanting to put together a Belle Disney Bound for awhile, so the gold bow will work well when I finally get around to doing that.  They are fun to wear in the theme parks, but also just for every day!  I’m looking forward to picking up more in the future for other Disney Bounds… and with them available on hair ties/elastic bands as well, they might work for future RunDisney costumes too!

Buns and Braids - Disney in your Day

If you like hair bows and want to show your Disney love with them, I highly recommend checking out Buns and Braids!  They are great for a variety of outfits, plus you can clip them to backpacks or other accessories.  And with Christmas coming up they make great gifts.  It would be the perfect stocking stuffer!

Head to the Buns and Braids shop and tell me – which Disney hair bow is your favorite?

Stitch Fix review – October 2017

I have now had TWENTY Stitch Fixes!  I think at least half of my closet is Stitch Fix items, and I really do still love it.  One of the things in my life that I struggle with the most right now is time, and I just don’t have a lot of time to go into stores and sort through everything to find something I like, try it all on, and end up keeping one item.  Stitch Fix is perfect for me because I have someone else picking stuff out to suit my style and I can try it on whenever I get the chance at home, then drop anything I don’t like in the mailbox.  I’ve tried to do some other online shopping and while the prices are often cheaper, it’s much more of a hassle to return things (having to print shipping labels, not being able to return something if it was on sale, etc.).

If you’re not familiar, Stitch Fix is a subscription box service that has you fill out a style profile survey, and then they send you 5 clothing items to try on – you decide what to keep and what to send back!

Julie has been my stylist for every single one of my fixes since the beginning (with one exception when she was out on maternity leave).  She knows my style really well.  Last fix I mentioned to her that I just don’t find dresses with an elastic waistband to be something that works for me, so this month she sent me 2 dresses without an elastic waist.  I also forgot to write a specific note for this fix, but she managed to totally nail it this time anyway!

Le Lis Kenley Knit Dress – $68

I wear dresses and skirts much more often than pants.  I don’t like pants.  But it’s harder to find good dresses for the fall and winter, as the temperatures get cooler.  This one is a nice, thick material, and has 3/4 length sleeves.  It will be great for later in the fall (we’ve still been having great weather lately, thank goodness!), and with a cardigan and leggings it will work through the winter.  It’s a simple pattern but I like it.  I do have a lot of polka dots now.  I would love to see a long sleeved dress in brighter colors, because most of the ones I have are black, navy, or gray.  It might be dreary outside but I’d still like to be colorful sometimes!  I kept this one.

Wisp Leeah Lace Knit Dress – $68

My husband and I don’t always agree on what we like from each Stitch Fix, but for this fix the best item in the box was unanimous.  We both loved this dress.  It’s one that I can wear casually, or dress up a bit for special occasions.  I love the style and fit and I think this is much more flattering on me than those elastic waist dresses I was getting.  The color is called “sangria” and I completely love it.  Obviously, this one was a keeper.

Threads 4 Thought Astra Knit Sweatshirt – $50

I saw this and I thought to myself, “A $50 sweatshirt? No way.”  And honestly, I still don’t think I would pay this much money for a sweatshirt, ever.  It’s a pretty color and it was really soft and warm on the inside.  And it has thumb holes, which I always like.  But it’s just too average to be worth it.  Now, I did end up keeping this, because (spoiler alert) I kept my whole fix.  If you keep all 5 items you get a 25% off discount, so it actually ending up being cheaper to just keep this to get the discount.

Metro Wear Karmin Scuba Skirt – $34

Perfect price point on this item. The colors are really pretty and great for fall, and I love this style of skirt.  It didn’t wow me or blow me away, but since I liked other items in the box and this one wasn’t too much, it made more sense to keep it.  It’s definitely something I will wear and get use out of.

Pink Clover Marissa Lace Up Back Pullover – $50

From the front this sweater looks pretty basic.  It’s a different color than I usually have in my wardrobe, so that’s nice to switch it up.  It’s thick, which will be perfect for winter when the library is freezing, and looks to be of high quality.  A good, non-itchy sweater can be hard to find, so I was already pleased with this item.  But then it has a super fun detail on the back!  These things combined made this one another keeper for me.

Last month I only kept one item… but I made up for it this month by keeping all of them!  Julie did a great job.  So great that I spent more money than I usually budget for clothes, which unfortunately means I’ve pushed my next fix back until mid-January!  I figure after the holidays are over I’ll be in a better place to think about spending money on my wardrobe again.

Disgust Disney Bound - Disney in your Day

This post contains affiliate links.

If doing a full out costume for Halloween isn’t really your thing, maybe doing a Disney Bound is the perfect in between solution!  I used this one when I went to California for the D23 Expo over the summer.  I knew a lot of people went full costume/cosplay, but but I wasn’t quite prepared for that so I went with this Disgust Disney Bound one day instead!

Disgust Disney Bound - Disney in your Day

If you’re not familiar, Disney Bounding is a super fun way to show a little of your Disney passion without being over the top obvious about it.  Basically, Disney Bounding is when you dress in the colors or style of a certain character, but you use your every day clothes instead of a costume.  I’ve done a number ofDisney bounds you can take a look at:

This Disgust Disney Bound probably ended up being my favorite one that I’ve done so far.  It was closer to being more of a costume than some of the other outfits, but still a “normal” enough outfit that it would just look like a dressy sort of day rather than a specific costume.  And if you wanted to make this a costume instead it would be super easy – just add a green wig, some make-up, and flower pattern to the dress.

Disgust Disney Bound - Disney in your Day

The dress is of course the main component of the outfit.  I got this dress from Amazon and I feel like it’s basically perfect for Disgust.  It’s also pretty affordable (at $29.99) and I could use it again for another costume in the future or just for when I want to get a little dressed up.  It fit everything I wanted for this Disney Bound – it was sleeveless, a v-neck, and had a full skirt.

Disgust also has a green belt around her waist, and it’s a pretty big one.  So I found this oversized green belt on Amazon and thought it worked pretty well.  I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on a big green belt because I don’t know how often I’d re-wear it, so this $7.99 one worked out.  If you want to be more authentic, or you’re wearing this Disney Bound during cooler months, I’d recommend some green leggings as well.  I knew I was wearing this in California in the middle of July so I passed on the leggings!

Disgust Disney Bound - Disney in your Day

Definitely not disgusted by Captain America 😉

And that’s a lot of green, so now it’s time for the colorful accessories!  I’m not sure if I’d call her scarf and shoes pink or purple – they seem kind of like a pinkish purple!  So you could probably go either way depending on what you have.  I tried to match as closely as I could while staying affordable.  This scarf is called pink but it has some shades of purple in it, and it’s a bit of a darker pink.  And finally the shoes – I actually got mine at Primark (which is an amazing place for cheap, basic clothing and very handy for Disney Bounding shopping if you have one nearby!).  But Amazon does have lots of options – I like these.

You could totally do some fun things with make-up too – green eyeshadow (or mascara/eyeliner!), and a pinkish purple lipstick makes this even more fun.  And then you’ve got a fun Disgust Disney Bound!

How to add some Disney to your look with KEEP Collective!

KEEP Collective - Disney in your Day

I received several samples of this product in exchange for this review – all opinions are honest and my own.

If you haven’t heard of KEEP Collective, you’re missing out on a really fun, beautiful kind of jewelry that’s perfect for showing off your personality.  KEEP has a number of different bracelets (and other items) that you can customize by picking out whatever charms you’d like for it.  And the best part is that they have a Disney collection!

KEEP Collective - Disney in your Day

The Disney collection was released earlier this year, but just recently KEEP released their second wave of Disney items.  Included in this new wave are a new bracelet and several dangle charms – including two that are also engravable, to make it even more personalized to you!  They are the first ever Disney engravable products.  I received the “Disney pink polka dots” bracelet, as well as the engravable Minnie in rose gold.

KEEP Collective - Disney in your Day

The Minnie bracelet is made of leather and really nice quality.  One of my favorite things about KEEP bracelets is that they are reversible!  So you can switch it up when you want a different look.  The one side of the bracelet has the light pink with black dots, and a lovely rose gold bow on the end.  I feel like this is the more “elegant” Minnie Mouse look.  But if you’re going for classic Minnie is her famous red, you can flip to the other side!  This red side also has the phrase “never stop dreaming” embossed on it.

KEEP Collective - Disney in your Day

The rose gold Minnie charm is really beautiful.  It has cute little gemstones set into the bow to add a little bit of extra sparkle. You can have a name, date, or whatever you want engraved on it – I chose the date of my anniversary, 9-3-11.

KEEP Collective - Disney in your Day

And if you prefer Mickey over Minnie, there is also a matching Mickey Mouse charm!

KEEP Collective - Disney in your Day

The final new item in the collection is a silver Mickey dangle charm.  While this one is not engravable, it is filled with gemstones.  Very classy and would go well with a variety of different bracelet designs!

KEEP Collective - Disney in your Day

I was also impressed with how comfortable the bracelet was.  The leather is great and comfortable and it’s very adjustable.  The charms didn’t bother me at all, even the dangling one, and I loved how it looked wearing it all day!

KEEP Collective - Disney in your Day

I love the concept of KEEP Collective, because I really like the idea of having something that’s customizable and a way to express myself.  And when they add in a Disney collection, it just makes it even more perfect!

Take a look at the KEEP Collective website and tell me – which charms would you put on a bracelet?

Star Wars nail wraps - Disney in your Day

We are getting close to the opening of the newest Star Wars movie, episode 8: The Last Jedi!  I’ve been looking forward to it for quite awhile and I already have my tickets for the Saturday of that weekend.  And just in time, Jamberry has released all new Star Wars nail wraps!

Star Wars nail wraps - Disney in your Day

If you’re not familiar with Jamberry, they are these fun nail wraps you can use instead of nail polish.  They are sticky and apply with heat.  I’ve found that they are quicker to put on than multiple coats of nail polish, and they last way longer – mine stay on for about 10 days, but I’ve heard people who don’t use their hands as much for work have them last 2 weeks or more!  Plus, you can get all sorts of cool patterns and designs that wouldn’t be possible with nail polish.

So let’s take a look at what’s in this new collection of Star Wars wraps!
Star Wars nail wraps - Disney in your Day
Get all of your favorite Star Wars characters together with this Camaraderie wrap that includes Chewbacca, Rey, and R2-D2 in a cool sketch design set against an artsy background.
Star Wars nail wraps - Disney in your Day
All right, so I’ve avoided as many spoilers as possible, which means I don’t really know much about these Porgs yet.  What I do know is that they are adorable and many people already love them.  So pair them with Chewie, the big old teddy bear who tries to be tough, and you’ve got some really cute things going on with your nails.  This one is also available as a junior wrap.

Star Wars nail wraps - Disney in your Day
And speaking of the porgs, if you’re a big fan you can get this Curious Porg wrap which features this adorable face.
Star Wars nail wraps - Disney in your Day
This metallic design of black and gold is really cool.  It says “Feel the Force,” but I think accompanied with the other design it’s really fun without being over the top.
Star Wars nail wraps - Disney in your Day
Do you prefer the more villainous side of things?  First Order features Captain Phasma is a black and red prism design.
Star Wars nail wraps - Disney in your Day
If you can’t decide who to support, get this mani that has the Galaxy Emblems of both the First Order and the Resistance.
Star Wars nail wraps - Disney in your Day
Anyone who’s a big fan of Rey or prefers a more feminine approach to their nails will enjoy this I’m Rey nail wrap.  I love the contrasting nails with the blue lightsaber and pink/purple background.
Star Wars nail wraps - Disney in your Day
There’s no denying that Kylo Ren has a pretty unique lightsaber, and you can represent that with Kylo’s Lightsaber nails.  Perhaps the coolest thing about this one? It glows in the dark!  It’s available in a junior wrap as well.
Star Wars nail wraps - Disney in your Day
A BB-8 wrap with orange and blue swirls. the Loyal Astromech is a unique design.
Star Wars nail wraps - Disney in your Day
As a big BB-8 fan, I’m definitely going to have to get this one.  Roll with It is the perfect design to represent the lovable droid.
Star Wars nail wraps - Disney in your Day
And finally we get to what might be my favorite of the new designs, Starships.  It has sparkly silhouettes of both X-wings and TIE fighters.
Those above are the newest additions of the Star Wars collection by Jamberry, but you can still order all of the designs from the first collection too!  And if you order from me by the end of the year (2017) I’ll mail you a little extra goody as well.  Tis the season!

Stitch Fix review – January 2018

I haven’t gotten a Stitch Fix since October because my last fix was so good, I kept the whole box!  I knew I’d need time to save up some more money, and with the holidays it’s not a great time to be spending even more.  So this was my first one in about three months.

If you’re not familiar, Stitch Fix is a subscription box service that has you fill out a style profile survey, and then they send you 5 clothing items to try on – you decide what to keep and what to send back!

My stylist, Julie, has been with me since the beginning.  This time around she sent me a couple of things that fit my style really well, and a couple of things to push me out of my comfort zone and try something new.  I like that she does that because I end up with clothing pieces I’d never pick out myself otherwise.

Tinsel Hattie Button Down Top – $44

In general I’m not a huge fan of button down shirts.  This one was actually cute as I don’t have much plaid, but I didn’t love it enough to keep it.  It was also extremely wrinkly when it came out of the box.  Which of course can be fixed, but it says to me that when this shirt is wrinkly and others aren’t, it’s one that is going to wrinkle very easily, and that’s just annoying.

Verse Larissa Knit Dress – $48

This was something that was more of my typical style.  It fit well, and the length was good.  I liked the purple pattern because I’ve realized I don’t have all that much purple in my closet.  In the photos I wore it with a black sweater on top because if you didn’t notice, it was snowing while we were photographing!  It’s actually sleeveless.  I was super on the fence about this one because I wasn’t totally in love with it, but it will be a great option for work so I decided to keep it.

Gilli Colbie Knit Dress – $68

As Julie mentioned in her note, she gave me a couple of styles to push me outside of my comfort zone a little bit.  And one of them was this shift dress, which is a style I don’t really have.  And at first I wasn’t sure – I liked the colors but I’m used to wearing dresses that have a defined waist.  I’m always afraid anything without one will make me look fat.  But to my surprise I loved how this dress looked!  It fit really well and was definitely my favorite thing out of the box.

B Collection by Bobeau Jiri Side Twist Knit Top – $48

This was a simple striped shirt with a unique feature of the tie on the side.  It was fine.  It fit well and I did like to little side detail.  But ultimately to me $48 was way too much for what felt like such a basic shirt.

Papermoon Kirsty Lace Panel Blouse – $48

This was actually a cute top and I liked it a lot, but it just wasn’t the perfect fit.  And I’ve learned that if something doesn’t fit just right I won’t reach for it.  The top was too short and though you can’t tell much from this picture, it has a more boxy silhouette which I’m not crazy about.

So overall I ended up with 2 cute new dresses, which I’m happy about!  Julie continues to make great choices for me!

Cruella DeVil Disney Bound

Cruella DeVil

This post contains affiliate links.

I’ve been trying to plan at least one Disney Bound for my trips to the theme park. It’s fun to dress as a Disney character without actually wearing a costume, and Disney World is the perfect background for Disney Bounding photos!  I love that my friends are getting into it too.  A group of us decided to do villains Disney Bounds for our last trip.

If you’re not familiar, Disney Bounding is a super fun way to show a little of your Disney passion without being over the top obvious about it.  Basically, Disney Bounding is when you dress in the colors or style of a certain character, but you use your every day clothes instead of a costume.  I’ve done a number of Disney bounds you can take a look at:

Out of all the villains I decided to do Cruella deVil because she has a fun look and I already had some pieces in my closet that would work.  There are a couple of different ways you could do a Cruella outfit. Instead of doing a white sweater or long coat, I went with something a little more Florida-friendly.

Although technically the skirt I had was a white leopard print and not dalmatian print, I think it still does a good job at evoking the character.  Mine is actually a LulaRoe skirt, and if you’re familiar with them you’ll know that you can’t usually find a specific pattern very easily.  But I found this really cute white leopard print skirt on Amazon!

I paired this with a solid black top. You could use anything black you might have in your closet.

For an accent piece I used a long lace vest (or whatever you call this sort of style).  I had red, which I think works because it’s the inside of Cruella’s coat, plus her accent colors, like gloves and shoes.  You could also do this look with a white vest.  Mine is lace but I couldn’t find anything super similar online. You can find some affordable red ones on Amazon though.

And that’s your basic outfit, so then it’s time for accessories!  I wear flip flops when I’m walking around Disney, but if you really want to pull off the Cruella look you’ll want some red shoes.  And Cruella has another signature piece you might not expect – she has teal earrings!  I unfortunately can’t wear earrings, but if you do then try these.

How do you like my Cruella DeVil Disney Bound? Which villain would you choose?

Show your Princess side with KEEP Collective

I received several samples of this product in exchange for this review – all opinions are honest and my own.

I’ve been a big fan of KEEP Collective since I discovered them, as their jewelry is fun, customizable, and affordable.  While I love my Pandora bracelet, most of the charms cost $50+. In contrast, KEEP has charms from around $10+.  I have several different bracelets that I love to wear to match my outfit and my Disney mood!

Because that’s the other great thing about KEEP – they have an official Disney collection of charms!  They first introduced the Disney line last summer and mostly focused on classic Disney, like Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Now earlier this year they’ve added a princess collection, and especially since Belle was included I couldn’t wait to get some of these!

You can start with any of their bracelets as a base – there are three Disney specific ones as well as a range of other bracelets in various colors and styles. There’s one new bracelet introduced as part of the Princess collection.  On one side the band is a shiny silver with a crown at the clasp, perfect to show off your royal bling. And like all KEEP bracelets it’s reversible, so you can also choose to use the back – a Cinderella blue with the phrase “Make your own Fairytale” printed on it.

Needless to say, I am completely in love with the Beauty and the Beast charms. There are two of them, and they’re both perfect. One is a silver dangling charm of a book with “Beauty and the Beast” on it. This librarian can’t resist. The other is the enchanted rose with a lovely rose gold color.

I was also sent the two Tinkerbell charms. Tink herself is really adorable, and the magic wand is subtle but special. It would work with other princesses too, including Cinderella.  Cinderella and Ariel are also included in this release, with two Cinderella charms (the glass slipper and the carriage) and one Ariel charm (the mermaid herself).

You could create a bracelet based on just one Princess by adding some extra charms from their non-Disney collection: for example, add the Eiffel Tower for Belle or the Starfish for Ariel.  Or you could create one that combines all of your Disney favorites.  Or even make one to commemorate a special Disney occasion. Create a wedding bracelet with the engraveable charms with your wedding date, or mark your experience at the Princess Half marathon by adding their 13.1 charm. One of the great things about KEEP Collective is that the combinations are endless and you can create so many cute designs!

Take a look at the KEEP Collective website and tell me – which charms would you put on a bracelet?

How to make a Fairy Godmother running costume

Fairy godmother running costume - Disney in your Day

For the first time in a Princess race, I didn’t run as a princess! Because I was traveling with a group of people, many of whom were also running, we decided to do a group costume. After much debate over which movie to do and what characters everyone would be, we finally settled on Cinderella.  And I decided to go with the Fairy Godmother! We also had Cinderella, the two stepsisters, and Jaq.

Fairy godmother running costume - Disney in your Day

Sometimes I will actually make my own running costumes – as in sew them myself.  I’m not super skilled but I can do basic things like skirts. In this case I knew the cape would probably be a little challenging for me so I decided to order one.  This costume was more pieces that I assembled and put together to create my full look, rather than anything I actually handmade myself.

Fairy godmother running costume - Disney in your Day

Cape

I knew the most important part of my costume was the cape. I wanted it to look good and capture the essence of the Fairy Godmother, but I also wanted it to be comfortable to run in, and affordable.  After searching Etsy I found this one from Lover Dovers clothing. It’s not actually intended for running (it’s part of an apron set), but it looked the way I wanted it to and looked easy enough to run in. And it wasn’t crazy expensive either! I got just the cape, not the apron. It’s very pretty and well made. I took it for a training run to be sure it wouldn’t be too uncomfortable, and it actually stayed put and worked for me!

Fairy godmother running costume - Disney in your Day

Shirt

I knew my shirt wouldn’t matter that much since it would be mostly under the cape, but I still wanted something to go with the theme. I turned to my favorite running shirt company, Raw Threads, and found this Cinderella inspired shirt that said “Fairy Godmother. Mice. Midnight.” Perfect! It was blue and actually showed up well in some of my photos so I was very happy with it.

Skirt

If I don’t need a specific style of skirt and I’m just looking for a color to go with my outfit, I always get a Glitter Skirt. I went with the Tempting Turquoise, though it wasn’t exactly the right shade of blue.  I couldn’t really find a closer color even on other websites, so I just went with this one and I think it was fine.  Use code “BECKY” for 20% off your order with Glitter Skirts!

Fairy godmother running costume - Disney in your Day

Other

Though the costume is mostly blue, I did add some pink accents to it.  I used my favorite brand of running headband, Sparkly Soul, in one of their pink colors. They’re usually at the expo as well.  And I love compression socks when I run, so I got a pink pair from Amazon.

I’m super excited to finally share something I’ve been working on for awhile!  I’m very into clothing and fashion, and of course Disney shirts are my favorite.  There are tons out there, but I wanted to try my hand at making my own.  And it wasn’t easy to get started, but I’m now thrilled to introduce the new Disney in your Day clothing collection!

I am selling on RedBubble, and had pretty much no graphic design experience prior to this.  But designing shirts has now become somewhat addicting.  I can start with a totally blank sheet on my computer screen and after lots of time and effort, and just using the basic tools in the design program, I can create something that actually looks pretty cool!  I can look at the Mickey pretzel I designed and say “I made that out of nothing – I put every single piece of salt on that pretzel!”

While my focus is on shirts, you can get some of the designs on other products too – leggings, notebooks, backpacks, and of course mugs! And while they default to display a certain style/color, most of them can be customized to different colors and fits.  I’m coming up with lots of new ideas but I’d love suggestions of what you’d like to see too!  But for now I thought I’d share the designs I have so far.

The Disney in your Day clothing collection:

There’s a Rumbly in my Tumbly

Disney in your Day clothing collection - Disney in your Day

I’m a big fan of food, so I expect to have a lot of food related designs 😉  In honor of Winnie the Pooh, I created this “There’s a Rumbly in my Tumbly” shirt.  It defaults to the women’s fit red shirt, but you can choose lots of different styles and colors.

On Cruise Control

Disney in your Day clothing collection - Disney in your Day

I had to design a cruise inspired shirt, which I’ve already purchased for myself since I’ll be cruising in less than a month!  I liked the phrase “On cruise control,” and by adding the Mickey ears to the anchor it makes it subtly Disney.

Orange Bird

Disney in your Day clothing collection - Disney in your Day

You had to know there would be some orange bird designs, right?  One thing that I was clearly missing in my life was some orange bird/citrus swirl leggings.  So I made this cute repeating pattern with the bird, the swirl, and an orange! You can get it on leggings, a tank top, a scarf, or a phone case. If I had a phone that RedBubble made a case for I would be all over that!

Happy Dwarf

Disney in your Day clothing collection - Disney in your Day

Which of the 7 Dwarfs are you feeling like today?  Well, if you’re in Disney, I’m guessing you’re “Happy”!  If people like this idea I could also design it with the checkmark in a different spot, to advertise that you might actually be Grumpy, or Sleepy, or even Dopey, I can upload those designs too.

What would Walt Want?

Disney in your Day clothing collection - Disney in your Day

Do you ever find yourself looking at changes Disney is making and wondering, “What Would Walt Want?’ Make sure everyone knows you have the man on your mind with this t-shirt.

It Calls Me

Disney in your Day clothing collection - Disney in your Day

The sea calls to Moana, but maybe it’s the castle that calls to you. At least, that’s how I feel when I’m in Disney! I love this design best on the Contrast Tank, but it’s available on a variety of styles.

Think Orange Thoughts

Disney in your Day clothing collection - Disney in your Day

I love my orange bird!  If you do too you can think orange thoughts with this design.  I ordered it for myself on a notebook to use for blogging ideas because I think it will keep my inspired, but it’s available on all the usual t-shirts and in different colors too.

Dole Whip & Dole Whip…

Disney in your Day clothing collection - Disney in your Day

This one was inspired by my brother-in-law who traveled with us last February.  All he wanted to do was eat Dole Whip… and more Dole Whip… and occasionally an ice cream sandwich.  I have a feeling there are other Dole Whip lovers who feel the same, and so this shirt was born!

I’m excited to add even more designs, so keep me updated on what you might like to see!  And RedBubble is often offering deals and discounts, especially if you sign up for their emails, so that’s a good way to grab some of these designs at an even more reasonable price!

Which design is your favorite? What designs in the Disney in your Day clothing collection would you like to see in the future?

Stitch Fix review – Ursula Disney Bound

$

Did you miss me? We got on our Disney cruise last week and then spent two days in Disney World! We only just returned last night. I’ve got lots of fun cruise posts that will be coming up for you soon, but in the meantime here’s a peek into my latest Stitch Fix.

I’ve been receiving Stitch Fix for quite awhile, but I decided to do something a little fun and Disney oriented with this one!  We had our cruise coming up, and instead of just asking for cruise appropriate clothing I decided to challenge my wonderful stylist Julie just a bit. I told her I wanted to do an Ursula Disney Bound, so I was looking for clothing pieces in black and purple which would be appropriate for the warm weather. As always, she didn’t disappoint!

French Grey – Presley Knit Dress – $44

This was a basic black dress, and out of the box I was concerned because dresses with elastic waists usually don’t work for me. They tend to sit weirdly and either make my boobs look saggy or my stomach look fat. But this one actually hit in just the right spot and worked! I think it’s always a good idea to have a casual, simple black dress, so I decided to keep it – and it’s the piece from this fix I actually did use for my Ursula Disney Bound!

Lila Ryan – Zuri Skinny Pant – $88

I don’t normally get pants from my Stitch Fix for two reasons – 1, I’m really picky about pants, and 2, I just don’t like wearing pants. I will always do skirts or dresses if I can.  These are also $88 pants, which are a lot for purple pants I wouldn’t wear very often. So of course I had to curse slightly when I tried them on and they fit perfectly around my middle. How often does that happen?? However, I didn’t like the length of where they hit just above my ankle. I think this is a trend now, but I’m not a fan. I just feel like it’s awkward looking.  So it was a no on these.

Gaiam – Astana Performance Knit Top – $38

This black tank top was actually an athletic wear piece, and it was simple but nice. I liked the fun design in the back with all the cross cross going on. However, it doesn’t have a built in bra, which I am not a fan of. And I own enough workout clothing, including a couple of solid black tops already, that I didn’t really need it.

Emory Park – Dulce Cross Front Knit Top – $28

This purple top is simple but light and airy, and I like the style of it with the cross piece in the front. I actually have a similar top but it has song lyrics on it, so this one was a bit different. It’s nice and versatile, and at an affordable price I decided to keep it (even though it didn’t come on the cruise).

FORTUNE + IVY – Gisela Side Slit Maxi Skirt – $38

Though it’s basically a black maxi skirt, I was a fan of this item as well.  It is again something versatile that is good for summer and could match with so many different pieces.  And it has a slit in it, which adds a little bit of excitement. I kept this one and packed it up for my cruise!

I had fun exploring the different items in the black and purple color scheme and using my fix to design my next Disney Bound! It’s always a fun way to combine my love of Disney and my obsession with clothing! Have you tried Stitch Fix yet?  Have you challenged your stylist to help you Disney Bound?

What do you think of my stylist’s choices? How would you Disney Bound?

What to wear to Toy Story Land!

Toy Story shirts - Disney in your Day

The official opening date of Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios is June 30th, which is right around the corner! Whether you’ll be there opening weekend or you’ll be waiting a bit until you visit, you might want a fun shirt or outfit to wear in honor of Toy Story! Or maybe you’re over by Disneyland and checking out the new Pixar Pier (which looks AMAZING!).  No matter which coast you’re on, or even if you’re just at home and want to show your love for Toy Story, I have some fun clothing options!

Now that I’ve gotten into graphic design I knew I wanted to design a Toy Story inspired shirt. But once I got started brainstorming I just couldn’t stop!  So I have four Toy Story designs in my shop right now… and I can’t promise there won’t be more.  I’ve also already purchased two of them for myself!

Let’s take a look at the designs I have available. I also put together some outfits for how I might style them when I wear them!

Toy Story shirts - Disney in your Day

You’ve Got a Friend in Me

This one is simple but might be my favorite. It has the iconic “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” phrase done with alphabet block letters in bright colors. I tried to model it a bit after the Toy Story Mania sign done with blocks. I like it best on a white background, and you could pair it well with a multitude of bright colors!

Products available: A wide variety of shirts, tanks, and hoodies, t-shirt dress, tote bag, greeting card, postcards, stickers, mug, pillow

Toy Story shirts - Disney in your Day

This is one of the shirts I’ve purchased myself and plan to wear for my first visit to Toy Story Land in August! I got the contrast tank design shown here. I think it’s cute with some brightly colored shorts (I went with yellow because I already own yellow shorts!). Add in some fun park items and my favorite comfortable flip flops and I’m ready to go to explore the new land!

Toy Story shirts - Disney in your Day

Best Friends

I love this lyric in the “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” song, so I decided it deserved its own shirt. To add a little more Toy Story flair I also added the footprints of Woody and Buzz. I ordered this one for myself as well, with plans to wear it for my November girls trip with my BFFs. I got it as the relaxed fit women’s cut in the color shown, but it’s available in a variety of colors and styles.

Products available: Various shirts, tanks, dresses, and hoodies, phone cases, tote bag, throw pillow, greeting card, notebook.

Toy Story shirts - Disney in your Day

To style this shirt I have a pair of LulaRoe Toy Story leggings I plan to wear with it.  Leggings should be more comfortable for November! I picked out a cute yellow hair ribbon to accent the yellow on the leggings.  I also liked finding some jewelry to represent both Woody and Buzz – a cowboy boot for Woody, and planet earrings, for Buzz!

Space Rangers and Sheriffs

I wanted to do a repeating pattern that would be good for leggings, because the leggings from RedBubble are so soft and comfortable and perfect for walking around the parks.  So I decided something simple to represent Toy Story – the light blue with clouds for Andy’s room, but also a sheriff’s badge to represent Woody and a green and purple planet for Buzz! I think they look pretty cute, and I was actually pretty tempted to order this as a mini skirt to see how it looked.

Products available: leggings, mini skirt, t-shirt dress, tank top, phone cases, iPad case, travel mug, throw pillow, drawstring backpack, tote bag, notebook

Toy Story shirts - Disney in your Day

I was originally thinking of getting these leggings to match with my You’ve Got a Friend in Me tank top, but ultimately decided that since it will be the middle of August I’m going to stick with shorts! Regardless, if I was styling these leggings in general I think the tank would be a fun choice because it’s still got some Toy Story fun, but a lot of white space so it doesn’t overwhelm the fun of the leggings either.  I don’t own yellow chucks, but how cute would they be with this outfit? I found this To Infinity and Beyond necklace on the ShopDisney website and I’m loving it – and I think the alien headband, which is part of the new Toy Story Land merchandise, will be super popular when they come out.

Toy Story shirts - Disney in your Day

Toys will be Toys

For my final design I wanted to do something inspired by the Toy Story logo, but hopefully a clever pun.  I went with “Toys will be Toys” because I think it’s a cute saying and perfect for playing around the new area of the theme park!  You can get it on a variety of different apparel items, but I really like how it looks on this raglan shirt with the blue sleeves to coordinate.

Products available: Shirts, tanks, hoodies, t-shirt dress, kids items

Toy Story shirts - Disney in your Day

I decided to go with a fun, casual look for this shirt. I paired the baseball style shirt with dark jeans and red converse, and added in some fun items from Toy Story Land, like the new hat and magic band!

Which outfit would you most want to wear to the opening of Toy Story Land?

Belle Disney Bound

Belle Disney Bound - Disney in your Day

This week is the opening weekend for the production of Beauty and the Beast that I’m involved in, so in honor of that I’ve decided I’m going to try and share lots of Beauty and the Beast related posts this week! It is one of my favorite movies after all, and I know lots of other people are big fans. There’s plenty to say and talk about when it comes to Beauty and the Beast, but I thought I’d start with a style post and share a Belle Disney Bound that I put together!

Belle Disney Bound - Disney in your Day

If you’re not familiar, Disney Bounding is a fun way to show a little of your Disney passion without being over the top obvious about it. Basically, Disney Bounding is when you dress in the color of style of a certain character, but you use your every day clothes instead of a costume. I’ve done a number of Disney Bounds you can take a look at:

Belle is a fun option for a Disney Bound because it’s relatively simple, and there are so many different directions you could take it. Belle has a number of different outfits in the movie, so you can decide if you want to do her provincial “town” outfit or the classic yellow dress. She’s also got the lovely winter outfit that you could do a fun Disney Bound with!

Belle Disney Bound - Disney in your Day

I chose her town outfit because it worked better with what I had in my closet at the time. Since I love Belle though I’m sure I will attempt some of her other outfits in the future!  The biggest component of this Belle Disney Bound is a simple blue dress. I actually got mine on Amazon, and it’s basic enough that it was affordable but still perfect for this.

Of course her outfit has accents of white as well. I wasn’t sure how it would look to put a white t-shirt under a dress, but the look actually seemed to work better than I expected. I think having a v-neck or scoop neck white shirt would work better with a dress like this.  If I was wearing this outfit in cooler weather I would use a white cardigan on top, but it’s been close to 100 degrees here lately!

Belle Disney Bound - Disney in your Day

While you could certainly add an apron to complete the outfit, I prefer my Disney Bounds to be a little more subtle, and an apron is not something I would wear anywhere except the kitchen!  So to add a little bit more white to the ensemble I added a white belt. That was actually Jason’s idea, I think he was proud of that because it did help pull the look together!

The little accents help to make it feel more “Belle” as well. For shoes I would go with black flats. Which surprisingly, I do not own right now because my last pair fell apart and I haven’t replaced them yet!  I have a rose pin that my mom gave me in high school for one of the shows I performed in – instead of actual flowers, she got me this flower pin. I’ve kept it since then and it works so well for Belle. You could also do roses as an accent with earrings, a necklace, etc.

Belle Disney Bound - Disney in your Day

The last two little details are two of my favorites.  I got a Belle style hair bow off of Etsy, because that’s pretty iconic to her look.  And finally, my favorite purse that I own! This Danielle Nicole purse came out last year and my lovely husband got it for me as a birthday gift. It says Beauty and the Beast on it, and is shaped like a book – perfect for Belle, the book lover!

Stitch Fix – Animal Kingdom edition

$

I’ve been receiving Stitch Fix for quite awhile, but I decided to do something a little fun and Disney oriented with this one!  I asked my stylist, Julie, for outfits that would be good for a day in Animal Kingdom. Can I just say for a moment how much I love Julie? She’s been picking my clothes out for almost 3 years now, and I feel like we need more than the limited amount of characters they give us to chat! Even with those limits she’s telling me about a trip she has planned for her kids to Disneyland 🙂
I was hoping for perhaps some animal prints, but Julie said they didn’t really have any. She did find some other light and airy things that would work well for a day at Animal Kingdom and I was excited to try them on!

NINE BRITTON Eris Knit Dress – $44

Julie suggested this as a possible zebra inspired outfit, and I actually really liked that idea. The dress was cute, and the best part was that it has pockets! However, I don’t feel like this loose flowy dresses are a good look on me. I prefer something more fitted because otherwise it kinda makes me feel huge. I could add a belt, but at $44 I’d prefer to save my money for a dress that flatters me and fits me perfectly.

PAPERMOON Egan One Pocket Knit Top – $38

This tank top is light and cute and perfect for Disney in the summer, and the colors are great for a day at Animal Kingdom. I went back and forth on whether or not I wanted to keep this one multiple times, though I ultimately sent it back. It was really close though!

ID: 23 Chiara Denim Short – $48

These shorts are the ones in the photo above, as well as with the other shirts I tried on in this fix. They were pretty stretchy and comfortable, and I’ve been needing some new shorts. $48 is more than I would normally want to pay for a pair of shorts, but I’m hoping they’ll last awhile. There was nothing else in the fix I was totally in love with so this is what I ended up keeping – and it’s already packed in my suitcase for my trip in 9 days!

PAPERMOON Marisol Mixed Material Knit Top – $34

This was soft and comfortable, but actually pretty similar to something I already own (also from a past Stitch Fix!).  It’s the same colors, and with polka dots on the back, but the one I own is stripes on the front instead of solid. It was soft and okay but not something I needed to add to my collection.

ALICE BLUE Simona Henley Blouse – $38

Julie picked this one out because of the feather like pattern that might be reminiscent of some of the exotic birds in animal kingdom. While I do like feather patterns, I’m not big on this style of shirt or the olive green color, so I sent it back.

It’s always a fun way to combine my love of Disney and my obsession with clothing! Have you tried Stitch Fix yet?  Have you challenged your stylist to help you dress for a Disney trip?

What do you think of my stylist’s choices? What would you wear for a day in Animal Kingdom?

Disney inspired nails - Disney in your Day

One of my favorite things to do before I leave for a Disney trip is my nails! I like to have both my toes and my fingernails done, which isn’t a regular thing for me. I try to have my nails done most of the time since I discovered Jamberry and loved their designs, but my toes often get neglected. With my trip coming up in just a couple of days I knew I needed to give a little TLC to my nails – Disney style!

Disney inspired nails - Disney in your Day

For awhile I was excited because Jamberry partnered with Disney to create officially licensed wraps that had the characters on them. They are super cute and I stocked up when they announced the partnership was ending.  I’m still hopeful that they will bring back the Disney collection someday, but in the meantime I’ve used their nail art studio to design some of my own Disney inspired nails!

Disney inspired nails - Disney in your Day

Wine inspired nails for Epcot’s Food and Wine festival!

I think these are some fun designs reminiscent of popular Disney attractions or films, and if people like them I’d love to design more as well. Fun nails are such a good way to put some Disney in your day!

Disney inspired nails - Disney in your Day

Geodesic

This Epcot nail wrap inspired by Spaceship Earth is perfect if you like something that’s a little more subtle but still has Disney written all over it for people  “in the know.”

Think Orange Thoughts

Knowing me, did you think it was possible I wouldn’t do something orange bird inspired, in honor of my favorite Disney treat – the citrus swirl? Of course I’ve already ordered this one and I’m thinking it might be what I use for my November trip.

Disney inspired nails - Disney in your Day

A Fine Wine

Fans of the Epcot Food and Wine Festival who are most excited about the “wine” part might have fun with this wine design. Also just great for drinking around the world in general 😉

In the Sky

Need something fun for Toy Story Land? This Toy Story inspired wrap is reminiscent of Andy’s wallpaper, with symbols to represent Woody and Buzz as well. Colorful and perfect to match the atmosphere of Toy Story Land!

Disney inspired nails - Disney in your Day

Running Princess

Signing up for the Princess Half Marathon today? I designed the running princess nail wrap with the half marathon in mind, since I run it every year and it’s pretty special to me.

Disney inspired nails - Disney in your Day

Tree of Life

As an Animal Kingdom fan, of course I had to do something in honor of that theme park. So here’s my Tree of Life nail wrap!

So these are the six I’ve come up with so far (I also have some Harry Potter inspired nails if you’re a fan of that as well!). I’d love to do more – even if other people don’t purchase I know I’ll wear them once I run out of my supply of Disney wraps! But if there’s something you’d like to see, let me know so I can get my creative juices flowing!

Ursula Disney Bound

Ursula Disney Bound - Disney in your Day

When we were on our Disney Cruise, I decided I wanted to do a Disney Bound outfit for one day! I thought about the possible characters, and while I love the princesses I thought it would be fun to do another villain.  Of course, when you’re out at sea, the most appropriate villain definitely seemed to be Ursula from The Little Mermaid! So I did my best to put together an Ursula Disney Bound.

If you’re not familiar, Disney Bounding is a fun way to show a little of your Disney passion without being over the top obvious about it. Basically, Disney Bounding is when you dress in the color of style of a certain character, but you use your everyday clothes instead of a costume. I’ve done a number of Disney Bounds you can take a look at:

I actually used my Stitch Fix to request items that might work for an Ursula Disney Bound – items in black and purple that I could mix and match and would be appropriate for a cruise.  I kept three items from that Fix and used one of them to put together this Disney Bound, as well as a few other pieces I had or bought. I wore this outfit the morning we had our brunch at Palo.

Ursula Disney Bound - Disney in your Day

The base part of the outfit was the dress that I got from my Stitch Fix.  It’s just a simple black dress, and when I grabbed it out of the box I didn’t think it would make much of an impression. But it fit well and was nice and light and airy for the cruise.  It also made a comfy cover-up later in the trip for going to the pool.

Since of course Ursula has that great purple skin, I wanted something purple on the top half. I found this cute light purple wrap from Target and went with that over the dress. I felt like it dressed things up a little for our brunch, and also kept me warm in the air conditioning!

Ursula Disney Bound - Disney in your Day

The most “Ursula” thing about my outfit was my necklace, which I got off of Etsy. It’s modeled after the one that she wears in the movie. It’s from the shop Fishes Give Kisses, which I absolutely love. I have a couple of necklaces from them and they are all wonderful!

The only other part of this simple Ursula Disney Bound was a cute pair of black sandals – after all, it was a cruise, so sandals were a must!

How do you like my Ursula Disney Bound? Which villain would you want to bound as?

I decided to go with a fun, casual look for this shirt. I paired the baseball style shirt with dark jeans and red converse, and added in some fun items from Toy Story Land, like the new hat and magic band!

Which outfit would you most want to wear to the opening of Toy Story Land?
