tutu da loo giveaway

There are lots of running tutus out there, but today I am super excited to share a review of one from an awesome Etsy shop called Tutu-da-Loo.  I adore her tutus.  She has a variety of characters, and the tutus aren’t just themed in terms of the colors.  She adds on additional elements, like flowers, ribbons, or designs to really bring out the character.  Go take a look at the Etsy shop to see what I mean!  And be sure to check her out on facebook (www.facebook.com/TutuDaLooo) and Instagram (instagram.com/tutudaloo/) as well.

tutu da loo 3

I was sent the Frog Princess inspired tutu to review.  This was one I was very excited about because Tiana is one of my favorite princesses, and there isn’t as much out there for her as there are for some of the other princesses.  I love the appearance of this tutu.  Instead of just green tulle, it has two layers with a lighter green on the bottom, and a top layer that is actually shaped like Tiana’s dress.  And there’s a fake flower attached, which I just love how that adds another layer to the costume.

tutu da loo

You can choose if you want a shorter length tutu or longer one.  I went with the longer length, and I really like how full the tutu looks.  I would make sure to wear leggings or longer shorts/capris with this though because since it is longer, the tulle hangs down and could get in between your legs, and avoiding chafing is very important!  If you went with the shorter length that might not be a problem.  Personally I love pairing leggings with tutus so this works for me!

tutu da loo 2

The tutu is very comfortable to wear and very full, which makes it look good on. I did a training run in it and it didn’t slip or slide around and was comfortable for the run. Another detail I really like is the waistband.  Instead of just using regular elastic, this tutu has a fancier looking elastic band that you can see in the picture.  Still very comfortable, but also makes it look more appealing and princess-y.

Would you like your very own tutu from Tutu-da-loo?  Enter our giveaway now!  One winner will receive a single or multi-colored tutu in the colors of their choice, or a $30 credit to the shop for one of the specialty tutus, including the Disney characters!  All you have to do to enter is fill out the rafflecopter form below.  Giveaway ends June 8th at 11:59pm.

Stitch Fix Review – July 2015

stitch fix 5

I’m happy to say that it’s Stitch Fix time! Stitch Fix is a subscription box service that has you fill out a style profile survey, and then they send you 5 clothing items to try on – you decide what to keep and what to send back!

My stylist was Julie again, and I was mostly happy with my fix.  However, I had put that I didn’t want pants on my style profile and she sent a pair of pants and a pair of shorts.  She mentioned in her note that she knew I didn’t want pants but she thought I might like them.  I wouldn’t mind trying a pair of pants once in awhile, but two in one box was a bit much.  I also find Stitch Fix’s pants to be wayyy overpriced, which is why I ask for only tops, dresses, and skirts.

Le Sample Kahlo Embroidered Racerback Tank – $38

stitch fix 3

I liked the style of this tank top and the fact that it has a pop of color with the yellow.  It was very comfortable on with soft fabric and nice and light for summer.  The price was right too, so I knew this one was a keeper!  Verdict: kept

Dear John Lillie Cuffed Short- $58

(pictured above)

These shorts fit well enough, and they were fine, but they just weren’t anything special.  For $58 they would need to be amazing shorts.  I know I can find something similar in stores for half that price, so I passed these up.  Verdict:  Returned.

Market & Spruce Austin Polka Dot and Striped Mixed Material Shirt – $44

stitch fix 2

When I first saw a picture of this I didn’t like it.  When I got it in person however I actually thought it was kind of cute.  I like the mixed materials and I think it’s versatile enough that I could wear it to work but also for everyday stuff.  It is rather see-through so it does require a tank top underneath.  Verdict:  Kept.

Here’s a look at the back of the shirt:

stitch fix 1

Skies are Blue Nicholis Lace Detail Knit Top – $48

stitch fix

There are a couple of things wrong here.  1, I try to avoid white tops because I can be a bit messy, and wearing an all white shirt is concerning to me.  2, this one was also see-through and would require a tank top.  3, It was a little bit big/boxy on me.  4, it was a little pricy for what is otherwise basically just a plain white shirt with a little detailing.  If it was half that price I might take a chance on a white shirt but if I’m spending that much money on it I don’t want to worry about whether or not I dropped a dab of salad dressing on it, lol.  Verdict: returned

Here’s a look at the lace detail on the back of the shirt:

stitch fix 4

Margaret M Emer Floral Print Cropped Straight Leg Pant – $98

(pictured above)

Flower pants are 100% not me.  I tend to keep my pants very neutral.  I would be open to branching out a little, but I’d rather start with maybe a brightly colored bottom.  I just don’t really like floral patterns in general, even for shirts or dresses (unless they’re tropical style flowers).  I will say the pants were super comfy but there was no way I was paying $98 for a pair of pants.  They’d have to be pants I could wear like 3x a week for that price, and flower pants do not fit that bill.

I was hoping for no pants and more bright colors, but I still got two shirts that I like a lot so I’m happy with this fix.  This was probably the easiest month for me to make my decision.  I knew pretty much right after trying everything on what I would be keeping and what I would be sending back, and luckily the prices matched up with my tastes.

If you’re interested in signing up for your own Fix, I would love it if you’d use my referral link – it would give me a $25 credit to use on a future fix, and doesn’t cost you anything.  I used a friend’s link when I signed up for mine so I could help her out, so I know it’s much appreciated!

My Summer running Must-HAves 2

I know a lot of the people that read my blog are runners, so I wanted to share what I’ve found works best for me when it comes to running clothes/gear on my daily runs.  I might do something different for races, when I’m doing a cool costume, but for everyday use here are my favorites!

Shirt – Raw Threads tank

raw threads

They are a little pricey, but Raw Threads definitely makes my favorite running shirts.  They are so soft!  I like the tank tops for summer.  And they have so many cute Disney related designs – right now I’m loving the “Castle to Castle” one since I’m training for the Disneyland Half marathon which will get me my coast to coast medal!

Sports bra – C9 Champion from Target

sports bra

I’m not super picky with sports bras because I always double up on them for extra support.  I’ve found the C9 ones from Target work well, are a decent price, and come in fun colors!

Bottoms – Any shorts with pockets

shorts

I’m not picky about my shorts in the summer, but I love it when they have pockets!  Though I’ll use a flipbelt to hold my stuff on longer runs, on my short runs it’s so much easier to have pockets that I can just slip my key and iPod into.  I have a pair similar to these ones on Amazon: Asics Women’s Core Pocketed Short, Steel, Medium

Socks – Vitalsox compression socks

socks

I love compression socks for my longer runs because they really help with my calf muscles.  I’ve tried a bunch of brands but my favorite is Vitalsox.  They come in fun colors and they fit me just right – I’ve tried others that were too tight or too loose.  I also buy them from Amazon: Vitalsox Graduated Compression VT1211 Performance Patented Training, Race, and Recovery Socks Pairs with DryStat (Black, Medium)

Sneakers – New Balance Minimal/Lightweight

shoes

I always go in willing to try one different brands, and I always end up with New Balance shoes.  I tend to favor minimalist shoes because I like how light they feel.  I also got blisters from heavier shoes.

Headband – Sparkly Soul

sparkly soul

I love headbands!  There are so many good kinds out there with fun Disney related patterns, but after trying out a ton I have to say that Sparkly Soul is my favorite.  They come in many sparkly colors and the fit is just right for me.  Other headbands tend to be too loose and slip, but these never move!

Other items always with me:

Camelbak water bottle – I love this because it’s easy to take a sip on the go, and I always have water with me! CamelBak Eddy Water Bottle, Sky Blue, 1-Liter

Frogg Togg – when it’s hot out having this cool towel is a lifesaver. Frogg Toggs Chilly Pad Evaporative, Cooling, Snap Towel

iPod – I would be bored to death without my running music!

Fitbit Surge – I use the GPS feature to track all of my runs! Fitbit Surge Fitness Superwatch, Black, Small

What are your go-to running items and outfits during the summer?

Runner’s Guide: Running Skirt from Run Princess Run

Run PRincess Run

I have another great running skirt shop to share with you all today.  It’s called Run Princess Run, and she makes some really adorable Disney skirts that can be used for any of the Disney races.  I was sent the Maleficent skirt to review.

To begin with, I pretty much love all of the designs in her shop.  I like the amount of variety she has too – there are definitely your princesses, but also other Disney characters (like Maleficent and Dopey), Star Wars skirts, and Avengers.  Her skirts all look like they have so much detail – many of them have glitter, bows, and layered fabric to perfectly reproduce the look of that character.

skirt 3

I let Ashley decide which skirt to send me, and I was pretty excited to see Maleficent.  I will be the first to admit that I’m usually more of a princess girl, but this skirt is just gorgeous.  I never really thought about doing a villain costume, but now that I have this I think I will have to!

I think the material that she uses is really nice, and different than a lot of other running skirts.  In appearance on my skirt it almost has a “black leather” look, which is perfect for Maleficent.  It’s also very lightweight and nice for running.  I wore it on a practice run this week over a pair of shorts, and could hardly feel it at all.  No chafing or anything either like you sometimes get from tutus.

skirt 4

But of course the best part is the glitter!  I love that she was able to add some fun color to the skirt, for a character whose outfit is mostly black.  There is purple, pink, and green, the exact shades to represent Maleficent.  And total coincidence, but I had just applied new Jamberry nails the day before – they happened to match this skirt perfectly!  I guess I know what nails I’m doing when I get an occasion to wear it.

skirt

Speaking of which, I’m now strongly thinking that if I get into the Disneyland Paris half marathon I will now go as Maleficent!  I can’t not use this skirt for the Disney race, and the only other one I’m planning right now is Princess in February, and for that one I do really want to go as a Princess.  I wish they would bring back the Tower of Terror 10 miler because that would be perfect, but I’m thinking Paris would work well too – after all, it does have Sleeping Beauty’s castle!

What do you think?  Make sure you check out the Run Princess Run shop to get a look at all of the other gorgeous skirts available there!

Disney Princess inspired Jamberry Nails – and a giveaway

Untitled design (1)

If you’re not familiar with Jamberry, they are these fun nail wraps you can use instead of nail polish.  They are sticky and apply with heat.  I’ve found that now that I’ve worn them a couple of times they are quicker to put on than multiple coats of nail polish, and they last way longer – mine stay on for about 10 days, but I’ve heard people who don’t use their hands as much for work have them last 2 weeks or more!  Plus, you can get all sorts of cool patterns and designs that wouldn’t be possible with nail polish.

I love all of the fun designs that Jamberry has, so I decided to come up with a list of ones which remind me of each of the Disney princesses.  They would be perfect for Disney bounding, wearing to the parks, or just reminding you of your favorite character!  If you’re interested in trying Jamberry yourself, head to the bottom of the post for details on how to enter our giveaway!

Ariel – Mermaid Tales

ariel

I own these ones and they are obviously perfect to represent Ariel!  I’ve worn them and gotten lots of compliments.

Mulan – Catch Fire

mulan

This bold red and gold wrap really captures the spirit of Mulan for me.  Red is her signature color but it also represents her determination and fiery spirit.

Belle – Bon Voyage

belle

There are a lot of directions you could go with Belle.  Something gold to match her ballgown, or blue and white to go with her provincial outfit.  You could also do something with roses.  But I chose Bon Voyage because one of my favorite lines that she sings is, “I want adventure in the great wide somewhere.”  This wrap represents her love of adventure and learning.

Snow White – Undertow Blue

snow white

This is an interesting set of wraps that I do think works for Snow White.  It’s blue, for the blue part of her dress.  Then there are the tree branches, which reminds me of the scene when she is running through the woods and stumbles upon the dwarves’ cottage.  And finally the deer, which I always associate with Snow White because of the huntsman.

Sleeping Beauty – rose colored glasses

aurora

Aurora’s signature color is a pink dress, with white accents.  And here we have a soft pink nail wrap with white patterns!  Plus I love that the name of it has the word rose in it, as she also went by the name Briar Rose.  It seems fitting!

Cinderella – something blue

cinderella

Cinderella has that iconic light blue dress, so I chose the wrap that I felt came the closest to that color and fit her feminine, sweet personality.

Jasmine – Prince Charming

jasmine

While the name of this wrap is Prince Charming, which is Cinderella’s man, the colors of it work well with Jasmine (or Merida, for that matter!).  I wish the blue was a little lighter, but it’s the only wrap I could find that combined blue and gold, which is really what I think of when it comes to Jasmine.

Pocahontas – Fall Fever

pocahontas
T
o me, these wraps really represent Pocahontas – with the natural looking leaves it reminds me of the scene when she sings Colors of the Wind.  Plus you can layer them on top of another color if you wanted to!

Tiana – Atlantis

tiana

I had a really tough time trying to decide on Tiana’s wrap.  There aren’t a ton of green choices, and while they are many snakeskin wraps there isn’t anything to do with frogs.  I went with Atlantis because it had both the green and the blue, the represent her green dress at the end of the movie, as well as the blue one she wears at the party.

Rapunzel – Happily Ever After

rapunzel

The pretty purples and pinks in this wrap remind me of Rapunzel’s dress.  Plus, it has the perfect fairy tale name – happily ever after!

Merida – horses

merida

I love the scene in Brave where Merida is riding on her horse, and the song “Touch the Sky” is playing.  So I think horses are a good fit for her!

Anna – Silver Floral on Magenta

anna

I couldn’t find anything to exactly match the flower/tulip pattern Anna has on her shirt and skirt, but I thought this one was fun to go with her pink cape and it had the same sort of swirling design as the flower stems on her shirt.

Elsa – Let it Snow

elsa

Obviously something with snowflakes has to represent Elsa!  From what I’ve seen this one is usually only available around the holidays, so make sure you grab it if you want it! Iced is also a fun Elsa choice.

Jamberry

And now it’s your turn to try out some Jamberry!  Enter our giveaway – my Jamberry consultant, Stephanie, is giving away a goody basket filled with Halloween treats (candy, glow sticks, and other treats), a half sheet of Jamberry nail wraps to do one full Halloween manicure and pedicure, a nail file, and an orange stick.  And if you don’t win the giveaway, you can always order here!

Stitch FIx Review - Disney in your Day

The other day my Stitch Fix arrived! Stitch Fix is a subscription box service that has you fill out a style profile survey, and then they send you 5 clothing items to try on – you decide what to keep and what to send back!

For the first time I had a different stylist.  Julie, my usual stylist, was on vacation, so Alisa filled in.  She looked at my Pinterest board and for the most part really got my style down well.  I could have used a little more color but I was very happy with the fix overall!

Minton Crew Neck Blouse – $48

Stitch Fix Review - Disney in your Day

Minton Crew Neck Blouse – $48

I loved the look and style of this top out of the box.  It was the most colorful thing I received this month, and I love color and fun patterns so I expected this to be my favorite!  Unfortunately, the fit was not great.  While I could get it on, it was very tight in the chest area – if I tried to raise my arms the shirt lifted up awkwardly, and it was very difficult to get off.  If it had fit properly it definitely would be a keeper!  Returned.

Kennidy Dolman Knit Top – $54

Stitch Fix Review - Disney in your Day

Kennidy Dolman Knit Top – $54

Oh, dolman tops.  Sometimes I think I really like them and sometimes I don’t.  I would like to own one to wear occasionally, but have yet to find one that is the right fit.  This one was just too big all over.  I also feel like I’d prefer a dolman in a short sleeve variety, rather than the long sleeve.  The shirt was so loose.  The color was pretty though, and the material was so soft and comfortable.  Returned.

Caspian Scallop Trim Cardigan – $68

Stitch Fix Review - Disney in your Day

Caspian Scallop Trim Cardigan – $68

I’ve gone back and forth on this cardigan so much.  It’s $68!  That’s way too much for a cardigan!  On the other hand, I wear cardigans all year round, so when I find one that’s a good fit I know I will get a ton of use out of it.  Also, it’s thick which is nice for winter coming up and I don’t own a navy blue one.  Kept (probably).

Grove Lace Panel Knit Top – $48

Stitch Fix Review - Disney in your Day

Grove Lace Panel Knit Top – $48

I loved the detailing on this top, especially the lace.  It’s so gorgeous!  And if the rest of the shirt was as good as the top part I would have kept it.  Unfortunately, the area around the stomach was pretty boxy and I didn’t feel it was super flattering.  It was also pretty short and had slits in the side, so I felt like if I wore it I’d be revealing skin when/where I didn’t want to.  Returned.

Abie Faux Wrap Dress – $68

Stitch Fix Review - Disney in your Day

Abie Faux Wrap Dress – $68

I love, love this dress!  It fits perfectly and is just the type of style I prefer!  It shows a bit too much cleavage for work, but if I threw a tank top underneath I think it would serve well both as something for work and date nights/going out.  Plus it’s got the 3/4 length sleeves and would be versatile for many seasons – add some leggings, boots, and a cardigan and I can wear it through the winter!  Kept.

I really liked my fix this month, and I just wish that everything fit well enough for me to keep!  I’ve learned though that if it isn’t a perfect fit, I won’t reach for it in my closet so there’s no point in keeping it.

If you’re interested in signing up for your own Fix, I would love it if you’d use my referral link – it would give me a $25 credit to use on a future fix, and doesn’t cost you anything.  I used a friend’s link when I signed up for mine so I could help her out, so I know it’s much appreciated!

Disney Bounding: Ariel from the Little Mermaid

Ariel Disney Bound - Disney in your Day

If you’re not familiar with the idea of Disney bounding, it’s actually a really cool fashion technique that you can use in your day to day life to bring a little Disney into your day!  The concept is that you wear normal clothing that in some way resemble the look of a Disney character: for example, wearing a yellow skirt or pants with a blue top represents Snow White.  You can also add fun accessories to add to it, like an apple necklace.  Many people don’t realize you’re Disney bounding, but Disney fans may recognize who you are!  It’s also a fun way to “dress up” when you visit the theme parks without actually wearing a costume.

Ariel Disney Bound - Disney in your Day

I’ve been interested in trying a Disney Bound, so I headed to my closet to see what I might have available.  I decided to go with an Ariel Disney Bound.  I wore a green dress with a purple sweater to represent her colors.  I also happened to have my Jamberry Mermaid Tales nails on which was perfect!  Finally, I wore my pearl necklace since I always associate pearls with the ocean.

Elegant Ariel

I also put together a graphic to represent this look as closely as possible.  It’s not the same dress or sweater (both are from a couple of years ago), but they are very similar.  My dress is from ModCloth and this one is as well.

I was able to wear this outfit both to work and to my play rehearsal that evening.  No one at work noticed anything, but then at rehearsal one of the girls looked at me and said, “You know, your outfit looks just like Ariel!”  I was excited that she recognized it and told her that was exactly what I was going for.

What do you think of the idea of Disney Bounding?  What character should I tackle next?

Blogger Mail Day!

Last week I was fortunate to get a couple of fun packages in the mail!  I participated in two mail swaps recently, and both arrived around the same time.  So fun!  If you’re not familiar with the idea of a swap, it’s pretty much what it sounds like – you’re matched up with someone, get to know them, and swap items.  There’s usually a specific theme to the swap.  One of the ones I did was a sweater swap, and the other was a blogger swap.

The sweater swap was run by the blog Coffee by Summer.  You were paired up with someone, filled out a survey about your size, preferences, and other information, and we had a budget of about $25-30.  I was matched up with Autumn from the blog Stay Gold Autumn!  I had a lot of fun picking out a sweater for her.  She described her preferences as darker colors like purple, teal, and gray, and liked something with fun details.  If you’re curious, you can see what I got her here!

sweater

And I was very excited when I saw my package from Autumn!  I had said that I like fun colors and patterns, and that I would prefer a cardigan.  She picked out a lovely sweater for me – it has a really cool pattern and I love the color.  I wore it to work today and the first thing my co-worker said when I walked in was, “I love your sweater!”  Autumn also threw in a few other goodies for me to enjoy.

IMG_1694

The other swap going on recently was a blogger swap, run by the facebook group Blog Passion Project (side note – if you’re a blogger this is the best facebook group I’ve found for support!).  The guidelines were to get to know your blogging buddy through email and then send them a care package.  I got matched up with Emma from the blog Courage to Bloom.  I had a ton of fun picking out things I thought she might like.

IMG_1684

And when I received my package from her, I was so excited!  She did an amazing job of picking things out for me.  She fit everything into this adorable orange jar (if you didn’t know, orange is my favorite color – so I’ll definitely have to find a way to repurpose it!).  Inside was orange nail polish, some candy, washi tape (I’m excited to use it for some crafting!), a pretty necklace, and earl grey tea (my absolute favorite kind of tea).  But the highlight for me was the most adorable Disney princess bookmarks.  They are so cute, and as a librarian I can never get enough bookmarks!

IMG_1691

It’s so much fun to get packages in the mail like this, and I find it equally enjoyable to pick out things to send to others as well.  It’s why Christmas is one of my favorite times of year – I love giving gifts.  I look forward to other swaps in the future!

Fishes give Kisses - Disney in your Day

Earlier this week I revealed my Disney Stocking Stuffer guide, and today I’m very excited to feature one of the Etsy shops on there a little more in depth!  The shop is run by a woman called Jessica and is named Fishes give Kisses.  Her shop has lots of gorgeous Disney inspired necklaces – I have a feeling that whatever movie or character is your favorite, you’ll find something you like there!

From my interactions with her, Jessica is a sweet, hard working person who has recently started trying to work her Etsy shop full time – so I’m happy to support her and share her wonderful work here with you!  She was kind enough to send me a couple of items to review and giveaway.  Everything came wonderfully packaged in beautiful little boxes or pouches, so if you’re looking to put this into a stocking or give as a gift she makes that very easy to do.  You can also choose different types and lengths of chains based on your preferences.

Glow in the dark glass slipper necklace

Fishes give Kisses - Disney in your Day

One of the most unique things about her line of jewelry is that she has a number of glow in the dark pieces!  And yes, they really do work – I tested this one myself.  I can only imagine how fun it would be to be wearing this into the parks.  It could get charged from the Florida sunlight and then you’d see it glow once it gets dark, or when you go indoors to a dark area.  So cool!  Plus, it’s absolutely gorgeous both when it’s glowing and when it’s not.  In the daylight the slipper is clear with sparkly glitter.

Peter Pan flute necklace

Fishes give Kisses - Disney in your Day

The perfect necklace for Peter Pan fans.  I love how it is an some ways an obvious reference to Peter Pan, but not over the top either.  It would also really work well for a costume or a Disney Bound.  It’s a sturdy, high quality charm that makes a really cute necklace.

Ursula inspired necklace

Fishes give Kisses - Disney in your Day

I love anything that looks like it came straight out of the film, and that’s certainly the case for this Ursula necklace.  The best part is that it comes in two different sizes!  One is perfect for every day wear without being too obvious, as it is still small and delicate.  The other is larger and would look amazing for an Ursula costume.  Just seeing these necklaces already has my gears spinning for what sort of Ursula inspired costumes and Disney bounds I could come up with!  To see which one might be better for you, check out this size comparison photo I took:

Fishes give Kisses - Disney in your Day

This is just a small sampling of all the amazing items Fishes Give Kisses has to offer.  Each piece is more beautiful than the next.  I highly encourage you to go check out the shop and see what else there is!

And now I’m super excited to share that we are giving away two of these necklaces to two of my lucky readers!  One will win the glow in the dark glass slipper necklace, and another reader will win the small Ursula inspired necklace.  All you have to do to enter is fill out the rafflecopter form below.  Giveaway runs until midnight on November 11th!

The best and worst of Stitch Fix

best and worst of Stitch Fix - Disney in your Day

A year ago, I will admit that my wardrobe was not the most fashionable.  It wasn’t bad, I just had my basics that I always went to.  Then I decided to try Stitch Fix. I’ve been getting it for over a year now and I really think my fashion sense has improved.

Out of the items I decided to keep, there are some real winners that I wear all the time and absolutely love.  And then there were also some things that once I had them in my closet, just didn’t end up working out for me.  I thought I’d go back over the past year and share my favorite and least favorite Stitch Fix items!  The “worst” items don’t include any that I sent back, just ones that I kept and then ended up not loving.  So here they are: the best and worst of Stitch Fix!

The Best

Skies are Blue cardigan – Fix #4

stitch fix skies are blue

I love this cardigan.  The color is fun and it’s so comfy.  I wear it at least once a week.  A great investment!

Benny Tiered Swing Skirt – Fix #1

stitch fix 5

This is a great skirt from my first fix that works for going to my job or just wearing out.  With the black and white pattern you can match it with almost any color top.  Plus it’s one of the cheapest stitch fix items I’ve ever had!  I get compliments almost every time I wear it.

Abie Faux Wrap Dress – Fix #8
Stitch Fix Review - Disney in your Day

Abie Faux Wrap Dress – $68

This dress came from my latest fix and I’m really happy with it.  I’ve already worn it once, to a baby shower, and I look forward to wearing it again!

Le Sample Kahlo Embroidered Racerback Tank – Fix #6

stitch fix 3

This tank is perfect for summer, and I wore it a bunch of times.  It was great for being active in too – I wore it to dance rehearsals a couple of times, and I wore it on my vacation to California.  It was also one of the more reasonably priced Stitch Fix items.

The Worst

Pixley Abrianna waffle knit cardigan – Fix #4

best and worst of Stitch Fix - Disney in your Day

I still really love the style and color of this sweater.  However, one thing I noted when I decided to keep it was that the sleeves were a little tight.  Well, every time I go to wear it I put it on and I’m like, “eh, this is a little uncomfortable” and I take it back off.  So not a good choice to keep on my part.

Kirkwood Mini Dot Crew Neck Sweater – Fix #2

Kirkwood Mini Dot Crew Neck Sweater

The sweater is cute but I have two issues with it – the first is how it’s so see-through.  I thought I’d be okay just wearing a tank underneath, but you can see every outline of the tank I just don’t like how that looks with the cut of this sweater.  The other is that it’s white, and white and I don’t mix well.  I’ve already spilled on this sweater twice, and I’ve probably only worn it twice.

Filbert 3/4 Sleeve Popover Blouse – Fix #2

Filbert Sleeve Popover Blouse

I obviously made poor choices about what to keep in my second fix.  I discovered after wearing it once or twice that it was a little tight in the chest area, and did weird things when I raised my arms above my head.  I actually already gave this shirt away, so it’s not even in my closet anymore.

Golden Tote review - Disney in your Day

Imagine this: you pick out two high quality clothing items from a website to have sent to you, and then you fill out a style profile and have a stylist pick out 3-4 other items that are all then mailed to you.  They show up on your doorstep in an adorable tote bag and you’ve just expanded your wardrobe like that.  What’s the catch?

Honestly, there isn’t really one.  There is a price, of course – this Golden Tote is $149.  Perhaps you’re saying, “Hmm.  That seems like a little bit of an investment when I don’t even know some of the things I’m getting or if I’ll like them.”  And that’s what I thought too at first – until I learned that you can return the entire tote and get a full refund within 14 days.  $149 for 6 clothing pieces?  That’s basically $25 per item, which is a total steal considering some of the adorable dresses and things that I got, and much cheaper than Stitch Fix.  If you feel what you like isn’t worth it you can always send the whole thing back – but you’re picking out two of the things yourself, and there’s even an official facebook group where you can trade.

Golden tote review - Disney in your Day

Even the tote bag it came in was absolutely adorable!

Interested?  Make sure you sign up for their newsletter to stay up to date on all the latest fashions and trends they’ll be introducing – but most importantly, so you know when their latest totes go on sale!  Some items are limited in quantity and size, so making sure you get their newsletter is the best way to ensure you’ll get what you want.  And it certainly doesn’t hurt just to get an email!

Fantastic Fawn  Geo Print A-Line dress

Golden tote review - Disney in your Day

The first item I’m sharing is probably my favorite thing from this Golden Tote.  It was one of my surprise items, and it’s an adorable navy blue dress with a fun pattern.  I absolutely love the fit and flare style!  I got so many compliments when I wore it to work and one of my co-workers said it was a really classic look.  I paired it with a black belt and black flats.  The material is pretty thick too, making it a great dress for fall or even winter with some leggings and boots.

Pink Owl Printed 3/4 Sleeve Blouse and Puella Cardigan in Plum

Golden tote review - Disney in your Day

The next two tote items paired perfectly together!  One was a plum colored cardigan, and if you’ve read my Stitch Fix reviews you probably know that I absolutely love cardigans.  And the color is gorgeous!  It went well with the abstract print blouse.

Golden tote review - Disney in your Day

When I first tried on the blouse it seemed a bit big and I wasn’t crazy about the fit.  Then I realized it looked a heck of a lot better if I tucked it in.  I’m still learning fashion here.  But I’m pretty happy with this look.  I paired the blouse and the cardigan with my absolute favorite pair of Old Navy jeans and my black boots.  Here’s an untucked look if you’re curious:

Golden tote review - Disney in your DayPotter’s Pot Pencil Skirt

Golden tote review - Disney in your Day

I don’t own any pencil skirts – until now.  I’ve always liked the style of them but since they are tight I feel a little self conscious of my tummy sometimes.  This is something that if I’d gotten it in a Stitch Fix, I’d probably have sent it back after trying it on.  But since it’s mine to keep I wore it to work, and i have to say it really grew on me!  I liked how it looked with a big belt, and it’s soft and comfortable.  It’s another great transition piece too.  For these nice fall days we’ve been having I can wear it with a short sleeved shirt and flats, but when it gets cold in the winter I’ll be able to pair it with leggings and boots.

Golden tote review - Disney in your Day

The texture is something that is really different but I like it!  I will say that I think given where the tag is on the skirt the zipper is actually supposed to be worn in the front.  I am not a zipper in the front kind of person though, so i put it in the back.  Regardless of where it is supposed to be, this is how I’ll wear it!

Brunch to Boardroom Blouse

The next two items are the ones I got to pick out myself based on a number of choices.  The first is a blouse.  It is white with black patterns, though the top was also available with blue details instead of black.

Golden tote review - Disney in your Day

I am very happy with the shirt!  It’s soft, comfortable, and fits well.  It was pretty wrinkly out of the tote but that was fixed with a little ironing.  The one thing to note is that the sleeves are a little tight around the edges.  The don’t feel tight when you’re wearing them but if you try to push the sleeves up you’ll have trouble.  I have a feeling I’ll be wearing this one a good bit.

Renee C Work of Art Dress

Golden tote review - Disney in your Day

The last item I got was this Renee C dress, and it was the other one that I had picked out.  This is actually the one I’m most on the fence about.  I love the colors, style, and pattern.  The only problem is that the top part is really large and baggy.  The bottom is pretty tight and fits perfectly – any smaller and it would be too small!  It has an elastic waist so it has a very defined top and bottom, and the top half just seems to have a ton of extra fabric, at least on me.  Still, I love how it looks with a big belt and boots.

Overall, I’m so pleased and impressed with my Golden Tote!  It was honestly something I was a little scared to try because of the $149 price tag, but it was completely worth it.  The fact that you can send the entire thing back for a refund means there’s really no risk if you end up with a worst case scenario.  I have a feeling I’ll be ordering another one when the spring season comes around.

Are you looking to boost your closet with some fashionable and affordable items?  Make sure to check out Golden Tote today!

Which of the items I received is your favorite?  Do you think this is something you would like to try?

Disney merchandise at Primark!

Disney merchandise

When I studied abroad in Oxford, England, one of the highlights of day to day life was visiting Primark.  If you’re not familiar with it, Primark is mainly a clothing store that started in Ireland, though they have a number of other things there as well (a small home goods section, make-up, shoes, etc.).  The best part is that their clothes are decent and super cheap.  $8 sweaters, $3 t-shirts, etc.  It was amazing as a college student on a budget, but it’s even nice now for basic pieces that I don’t want to spend a lot on.

Currently there are only two Primark locations in the United States: King of Prussia (where I live), and Boston.  But I’m hoping that it will be successful and many more locations will open up around the country!

I went in today because my white cardigan that i wear all the time got stained and I was looking fora cheap replacement.  Not only did I find exactly what I wanted, I also walked in to a ton of Disney stuff!  So I snapped some pictures to share with all of you.

A huge selection of Disney pajamas:

primark 1 primark 2

primark 3 primark 6

The whole front part of the store was dedicated to Star Wars:

primark 7

These hoodies were on clearance from Primark’s already discounted prices, ending up costing only $5:

primark 8

A number of cute t-shirts $7 and under:

primark 9

A Christmas sweater:

primark 5

You can even get Mickey on a bra and panty set!

primark 4

I was in a rush when I visited so I didn’t even have time to check out the whole store.  I did grab one of those $5 hoodies though!  The one I picked out is Mickey and Minnie in front of the Eiffel Tower and says “Paris with Love.”  Since I’ve booked a trip to Disneyland Paris for next year I figured maybe I could wear it then!

Have you ever heard of Primark?  What’s your favorite of these items?

Stitch Fix Review – December 2015

Stitch Fix Review

So it turns out mid-December was a pretty poor time to receive a Stitch Fix.  In addition to all of the regular spending with presents and the holidays, I unfortunately hit a deer and need to spend the money to fix my car, and we found out our insurance doesn’t cover filling the cavities of me or my husband.  So let’s just say that we’re a couple thousand dollars over what we intended to spend this month.

Before I opened the box I told myself I would only keep 1 item so as not to lose my styling credit.  I was very excited to see that my usual stylist, Julie, was back from maternity leave and put together this box for me!  There were 3 things I would have kept if it was in the budget.

If you’re not familiar, Stitch Fix is a subscription box service that has you fill out a style profile survey, and then they send you 5 clothing items to try on – you decide what to keep and what to send back!

Pinon Lace Detail Blouse – $48

Stitch Fix Review

This was pretty – I liked the vibrant color and the lace detail.  I would have kept it if I had the money.  It was a little pricey for a relatively simple shirt though. I liked something else better so back it went.

Stitch Fix Review

Breyson Pleated Tab-Sleeve Blouse – $58

Stitch Fix Review

I liked the color of this shirt but that was about it.  The sleeves were a bit too tight and I was not a fan of the pleat.  So it was easy enough to send this one back.

David Faux Suede Jacket – $78

Stitch Fix Review

So interestingly, this one is my keeper!  It’s not my usual style at all but I like stepping outside the box a bit.  It’s soft and so comfortable.  When I tried it on my husband said, “It looks like it would be good if you were a smuggler in the Star Wars universe.”  It definitely makes me feel badass when I wear it, haha.  So I’m going to try and make a conscious effort to wear it often!

Stitch Fix Review

Melissa Mixed Geo Print Pencil Skirt – $48

Stitch Fix Review

This pencil skirt just didn’t work for me.  I liked the pattern and material but that was it.  I don’t like trying to pull off a pencil skirt because I feel like you have to be really thin for it to look good – I’ve got too much hips and a little bit of tummy!  And I don’t like the ones that go below the knee, they just seem awkward to me.

Aerin Dress – $58

Stitch Fix Review

The dress is one that I liked and wish I could have kept as well.  It’s kind of simple but it was comfortable and cute.  At half the price I would have kept it.  As it is, my husband pointed out that I already have other dresses that are prettier.

If you’re interested in signing up for your own Fix, I would love it if you’d use my referral link – it would give me a $25 credit to use on a future fix, and doesn’t cost you anything.  I used a friend’s link when I signed up for mine so I could help her out, so I know it’s much appreciated!

OFFEE (4)

I received this subscription box in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions are my own.

What’s an easy way to add a little extra bit of Disney into your look?  Disney hair bows!  They’re great for visiting the parks or just wearing on a day to day basis and are cute on kids and adults alike.  IncrediBows is an Etsy shop that not only makes bows, she has monthly subscription box options as well!  So you can get a different bow every month.  And her subscriptions start as low as $7 per month!  Where else will you find a subscription box that affordable?

img_3104

These bows are Disney character inspired, which means they’ll have the colors and perhaps other little details of well known Disney characters.  You can request a certain bow and get a surprise one as well.  You can also choose which type of clip you want on your bows.  I received the subscription with three Disney bows in it.

img_3102

I was super impressed by the quality of the bows (especially considering how reasonable the prices are!).  The colors are vibrant, there’s so great detail, and they are clearly well made.  My first bow was a Rapunzel inspired one, with the stunning colors of purple and gold.

img_3101

Another bow that I got is a Cinderella bow, but from the new live action version.  I am so in love with this!  It has butterflies on it just like her dress and is so pretty.  You can also see how full the bows are in the photo below – she does layers of bows to give it that look.

img_3100

Finally, I received a Mike Wazowski inspired bow, from Monsters Inc.  I love his character!  This bow is a really fun one, with the green polka dots and “one eye” right in the middle.  So cute!

You can visit the Incredibows shop here to sign up for your own fun monthly package, and make sure you also follow on instagram to get the latest news, bows, and discounts available!

Giveaway! Enchanted Beauty subscription box review

Enchanted Beauty - Disney in your Day

I’m very excited to bring to you today a review of a highly anticipated, unique Disney subscription box!  This one is called Enchanted Beauty, and it is a make-up and accessories box that has a different Disney theme every month.  Familiar with subscriptions like Ipsy or Birchbox?  Similar to that, except you get more stuff, jewelry pieces, and it’s Disney themed!

The best thing I can say about the Enchanted Beauty box is that it is expertly curated.  It’s clear that the box’s creator put a lot of time and effort into selecting the items to go along with the theme.  December’s box was the first one, and the theme was Star Wars: “The Force is Fierce.”  Perfect for us strong, fierce Disney women!

Though postcards with descriptions of everything were meant to be included, they got delayed.  However, she was nice enough to email me all the information.  And they will be included in future boxes.  Let’s take a look at all of the cool things I received!

Enchanted Beauty - Disney in your Day

Hard Candy eye shadow (in “make believe”): I love this duo eye shadow and the fact that it has two pretty, shimmery colors in one!  It was selected for the box because it looks like the moon (Star Wars fans should be familiar with the line, “that’s no moon”!).  With the silvery colors it definitely reminds me of a celestial theme.  Perfect.

Enchanted Beauty - Disney in your Day

Star Wars Cover Girl lipstick: The theme for this box is “The Force is Fierce,” and this is definitely a bright, fierce color!  I love pinks so it’s great for me.

True lips lip liner: So this might be bad of me to admit, but I’ve never actually used lip liner before!  I totally should because it looks so much nicer and it will be great for theater.  So I was excited to get this and try it out!

Enchanted Beauty - Disney in your Day

Ulta nail polish (in “silver bell): Such a gorgeous shade of nail polish.  I don’t wear nail polish often now because I use Jamberry, but sometimes if I just want color I turn to it.  And I’ll be looking forward to seeing how this color is on.  It looks so shimmery and pretty in the bottle!

Enchanted Beauty - Disney in your Day

Chewie and Han Solo necklace: designed to look like pop art, this adorable necklace is a great tribute to these two characters.
Star bracelet:  Really cute and fun for the Star Wars theme!
Darth Vader keychain: Not only is this cool looking, it’s also a flashlight!  His eyes light up and it makes light saber sounds.
Sparkle and Steel Earrings: these are handmade with ” Swarovski crystals made to look like the galactic sky” and they are absolutely GORGEOUS in person.  I’m so sad I can’t wear earrings because they are beautiful.  But hopefully they will make a nice gift for someone!  From the Etsy shop Sparkle and Steel.

One of the first questions I usually hear about a subscription box is if the cost is “worth it.”  The Enchanted Beauty box is $39.95 per month including sipping and my answer to that question would be absolutely.  You get a wide variety of items that have some good value to them, and in addition to that it’s clear that everything is well thought out.  I’ve seen some Disney subscription boxes where it seems to be just random items thrown together in a box.  This one has items that were carefully selected.  For make-up and Disney lovers you can’t go wrong!

Next month’s theme is “The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyway,” so of course it will be a Frozen themed box!  Not only is that exciting in itself, but Enchanted Beauty has kindly offered to give away one free box to one of my readers!  All you have to do to enter is fill out the rafflecopter below.

Even if you don’t win, you can use the code DISNEYDAY for 25% off your order!  That’s an amazing value!

Disney cocktail party - Disney in your Day

I received the Fairy Tale cocktail recipe book free of charge to review for the blog.  All opinions are my own and 100% honest.

I love throwing parties.  I especially love planning a party with a good theme.  So when I decided to throw a Disney cocktail party I was especially excited to use the Fairy Tale cocktail recipe book from Cocktails by Cody!  I’ve long seen his drinks on Pinterest and facebook, but I was never sure how to make them.  Now that he released a recipe book I was super excited to try my hand at some of them!

The Drinks

Disney cocktail party - Disney in your Day

Sleep Cycle

The fairy tale inspired drinks from Cocktails by Cody were definitely the highlight of the party.  I decided to choose 6 of them to serve.  We had:

  • The Lost Boy (midori, sprite, Malibu)
  • Sleep Cycle  (hypontiq, kinky, mango vodka)
  • Burly and Brawny  (whiskey, amaretto, black cherry cola)
  • Fairy Drunk Mother  (sprite, orange juice, kinky, raspberry vodka)
  • Fair Maiden  (orange juice, pineapple juice, blue curacao)
  • Diamond Dwarf  (orange vodka and grenadine)

Disney cocktail party - Disney in your Day

The Lost Boy

From speaking with the guests, the overwhelming favorite seemed to be the Lost Boy.  They enjoyed both the sweetness of this drink and the fun appearance and color of it.  The other one mentioned as a favorite was the Fair Maiden.  This tasted good but I had a lot of trouble with the layering on this one!  It was okay, people enjoyed the taste, but it turned out more of a teal/green instead of the pretty yellow and blue it was supposed to be.

Those who favored a less sweet drink tended to lean toward the Fairy Drunk Mother (that was my personal favorite!).  It still had a hint of sweetness but wasn’t overpowering.  I thought the combination of flavors was really good and unlike anything I’d had before.

Disney cocktail party - Disney in your Day

Fairy Drunk Mother

Sleep Cycle was gorgeous, and tasted good too.  I actually mastered the layering on this one!  I also included the Burly and Brawny to have more of a manly option.

The diamond dwarf was probably the least favorite (though none of them were bad!).  It was very sweet as a shot by itself.  It is suggested in the book to add it to the fair maiden, but people enjoyed that drink a lot by itself and didn’t need or want to combine the two.  All of the drinks created by Cocktails by Cody were great, at least from the ones we tried!

The Food

Disney cocktail party - Disney in your Day

I asked everyone to bring some snacks (and bonus points if it was Disney themed!).  We got some great Disney themed party foods!  I made Mickey cupcakes – they were just red velvet cupcakes but I put Oreos on top for the ears.  Other Disney themed treats that people brought included Up themed cupcakes, dinosaur shaped soft pretzels, Snow White’s apple pastries, melted Olaf (a snack of marshmallows, pretzels, and chocolate chips), and even Disney Princess fruit snacks!

The Entertainment

Disney cocktail party - Disney in your Day

I always like to provide a little something to do at parties so it’s not all just standing around drinking or feeling like you have to talk awkwardly if you don’t know everyone.  So I had a couple of things set up.  I had Disney music playing in the background.  Around the tables I spread Disney conversation starters.  These were questions like “Which Disney character do you think you are most like?” and “What’s your favorite Disney World attraction?”  It got people talking and got some good discussion going!

Disney cocktail party - Disney in your Day

There were also a few games.  One was a Disney Quotes game that I got from this blog with free printables – it listed the quote and everyone had to try and guess which movie it was from.  I also set up Disney Scene It and some people played that.  And although it wasn’t planned, at the end of the night a group of us ended up watching some old episodes of the original Muppet Show!

Disney cocktail party - Disney in your Day

Finally, I got a download printable from Etsy of some Disney photo booth props.  These made for some fun photos to take!  These ones in particular were from the shop Little Forests.  I got the download immediately and was able to print them and cut them out!

Disney Bounding

P1140637

After a couple of people asked me what to wear, I suggested the idea of Disney Bounding.  If you’re not familiar, it’s wearing everyday clothes that represent a Disney character, usually in the colors that you’re wearing.  Most people participated and some really got into it!  It was fun looking at everyone’s clothing and trying to guess which character they were.  I might put up another blog post just featuring all of the outfits because they were really fun.

Everyone seemed to have a great time.  Even some of my friends who aren’t huge Disney fans got into the themeing and enjoyed it.  There were a lot of questions about if we could do another one and explore more of the drinks in the recipe book.  I would love to!

Are you interested in trying any of these Disney themed cocktails from the Fairy Tale Cocktails book?

Official Disney by Jamberry nails!

Disney Jamberry - Disney in your Day

Obviously I’m obsessed with Disney.  But something else I’ve also come to love lately is Jamberry nails.  Nail polish chips so easily, and my Jamberry nails are not only fun designs – they last over a week for me.  So you can guess how excited I am about Jamberry announcing they would be releasing official designs from Disney!

Disney Jamberry - Disney in your Day

A couple of months ago I did a post on Disney Princess inspired Jamberry nails.  These were wraps that had colors which reminded me of certain princesses – a nice, subtle way of showing your Disney love.  But if you want to go all out Disney, now Jamberry can support that too!

Disney Jamberry - Disney in your Day

They have released a couple of series of wraps already, and lots more in the works.  The collections available now include The Little Mermaid, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), and a number of Minnie Mouse designs.  These look great and I’m so excited for them!

Disney Jamberry - Disney in your Day

In addition, Jamberry has said that more Disney inspired designs will be coming.  Rumor has it that they will include the following:

  • Cinderella
  • Belle
  • Mulan
  • Pocahontas
  • Snow White
  • Jasmine
  • Frozen
  • Tinkerbell
  • Mickey Mouse
  • The Lion King
  • Marvel
  • Muppets
  • Alice in Wonderland
  • Jungle Book
  • Winnie the Pooh
  • Villains

Disney Jamberry - Disney in your Day

Just a couple of things to note about the new Disney designs.  They are considered premiums wraps, which means that they cost $18 each and are not available for any discounts or promotions (including but not limited to buy 3 get 1 free, host rewards, product credits, etc.).  If you’re interested in purchasing and don’t already have a Jamberry consultant, I highly recommend you buy through my friend Stephanie’s shop – she is super knowledgeable about everything Jamberry, friendly, and helpful!  If you buy them and need some tips/assistance in putting them on she will be happy to help you out!

Disney Jamberry - Disney in your Day

As for me, my favorite of this bunch is Aurora’s Castle – I think I’ll be purchasing that one!  And then waiting for some of the other designs to come out – I’m super excited to see Belle, Muppets, Mulan, and the Lion King!

Which of these designs is your favorite?

Stitch Fix review – February 2016

Alice in Wonderland running costumes (8)

I got another Stitch Fix!  I apologize in advance that my photos aren’t the highest quality this time around.  I usually shoot outside for better lighting but it’s been below 20 degrees here all week so I was not trying on these short sleeved and sleeveless outfits outside!  I’m still figuring out the intricacies of indoor lighting, so bear with me.

If you’re not familiar, Stitch Fix is a subscription box service that has you fill out a style profile survey, and then they send you 5 clothing items to try on – you decide what to keep and what to send back!

P1140666

Kut from the Kloth Cai Bootcut Jeans – $88

I’ve stated on my style profile I don’t want pants, so when I saw jeans were coming I figured they’d be going back.  Then when they arrived and I saw they were WHITE jeans, I knew there was no chance no matter how well they fit.  Don’t get me wrong, white jeans look great on many people, but I am a known klutz.  Why just this morning I spilled my cup of coffee all over my pants, couch, and blanket.  Thank goodness i was just wearing black yoga pants and not $88 white jeans.  These things wouldn’t last more than a day with me.  The fit was decent but they were also a bit too long for me, and I’m not really short or anything (5’6″).  This was the easiest thing for me to ever send back to Stitch Fix.  Returned.

Papermoon Bastille Tulip Sleeve Blouse – $44

I really loved the color of this.  I thought it was a little overpriced at $44 for a plain blouse, and I also wasn’t crazy about the style of the sleeves.  I don’t know how much wear I would get out of it.  Returned.

P1140670

RD style Gia dress – $58

So out of the box this looked like a boring, overpriced black dress.  I’m not really a boring black dress person.  I have one black dress in my closet, don’t need another.  Trying it on it was very tight and absolutely hugged every curve – and even the tiniest roll of fat.  It was the type of dress I put on and thought to myself, if I lost about 20 pounds I would feel super confident wearing this!  But I’m not going to keep it in my closet waiting/hoping that day will ever come, so back it goes.  Returned.

P1140668

41 Hawthorn Presley Color block button back sweater – $68

Sensing a trend with things that just weren’t worth the price in this box?  To be fair, I pinned this item because I think it’s a neat pattern.  But it would have to fit perfectly for me to keep it for $68, and unfortunately I found the sleeves to be just a bit too tight for comfort.  Also it didn’t help that my husband hated it – he thought it was super dorky looking, especially with the buttons on the back.  Returned.

P1140669

P1140667

Fun2Fun Walden V-neck blouse – $44

Because I didn’t want to end up losing my $20, this is what I ended up keeping.  It’s a fun, bright color and a simple, lightweight shirt.  The place where I work is super warm all the time so this will be good.  Kept.

All in all I had some mixed feelings about this fix.  I liked all the tops they sent well enough, but the dress and the white pants were definitely not me.  I’ve been slacking a bit on leaving detailed notes so maybe I need to step up for next time!

If you’re interested in signing up for your own Fix, I would love it if you’d use my referral link – it would give me a $25 credit to use on a future fix, and doesn’t cost you anything.  I used a friend’s link when I signed up for mine so I could help her out, so I know it’s much appreciated!

Disney villain Jamberry - Disney in your Day

Chances are if you’re a fan of Disney and Jamberry, you’ve heard of the new official Disney by Jamberry collection.  Right now there are designs inspired by Aurora, Ariel, and Minnie Mouse.  Rumor has it that many more designs are on the way, including a villains collection.  However, there’s no announcement of when those will be out.  If you just can’t wait, I picked out some of my favorite designs that I feel remind me of some of the Disney villains!

Keep in mind that some of these designs I picked for Disney villain jamberry are retiring at the end of the month, so order now if you’re interested!

Maleficent – Stargazing

Disney villain Jamberry - Disney in your Day

Stargazing is a deep, dark purple.  It’s gorgeous but also fitting for the mistress of evil.

Cruella – Deville

Disney villain Jamberry - Disney in your Day

Let’s be honest, this one is pretty much named after her already.  The pattern of dalmatian spots is something that Cruella would be proud to wear.  This is one of the ones retiring at the end of February so grab it now!

Queen of Hearts – From the Heart

Disney villain Jamberry - Disney in your Day

I’m actually wearing these as I type and they are gorgeous in person.  The Queen of Hearts of course has to have something with hearts on it, and the bold glittery red is perfect for her.

Evil Queen – Dipped in Gold

Disney villain Jamberry - Disney in your Day

Black and gold are her colors, and this cool looking ombre design certainly has a bit of an ominous look to it.

Cheshire Cat – Happily Ever After

Disney villain Jamberry - Disney in your Day

The Cheshire Cat is all about his pink and purple stripes, so this one works well for him.

Ursula – Plum and White Polka

Disney villain Jamberry - Disney in your Day

I mean, her skin is purple – you knew it had to be a purple wrap for this one!  And the white polka dots just bring out her lovely white hair 😉

Gaston – Oh Deer

Disney villain Jamberry - Disney in your Day

“I use antlers in all of my decorating” – including decorating the fingernails, right?  That’s why Oh Deer is super fitting for Gaston.

Jafar – Lava Lamp

Disney villain Jamberry - Disney in your Day

Jafar is willing to hypnotize you.  And by the looks of this wrap, it might just do the same.

Dr. Facilier – Boysenberry

Disney villain Jamberry - Disney in your Day

You might have noticed by now that the villains all have fairly similar, dark colors – black, purple, red, gold.  Dr. Facilier combines almost all of these, but I’m fond of the shade of purple that he sports.

Mother Gothel – Glittering Marsala

Disney villain Jamberry - Disney in your Day

When you think of Mother Gothel, no doubt her maroon dress with gold accents comes to mind.  This nail wrap combines both colors in a sophisticated way.

Scar – After Dark

Scar is the darker lion of the bunch, so this darker sparkly wrap is perfect to represent the evil lion.

Governor Ratcliffe – Gold Sparkle

Disney villain Jamberry - Disney in your Day

The guy’s obsessed with gold.  He sings a whole song about it.  It’s all he wants.  So obviously, the nail wrap for him has to be this one.

What do you think of my selections for Disney villain jamberry?  Which one is your favorite?

Making a Rapunzel running costume

For the Princess half marathon I decided to do a Rapunzel running costume.  There were several pieces to my outfit, but the most important thing to me was that it was comfortable.  Some of them I made and some of them I bought, but I figured I’d share how I put the whole thing together in case anyone else wants to do a Rapunzel costume!

Shirt

This is the one part of the costume that I really made most of it.  I bought the shirt itself at Target but added all of the decorations.  If you know me, you know I’m a huge fan of the power of a hot glue gun, especially for something I’m only planning to really wear once.  So I used some thin pink ribbon to create the corset design on the front, gluing it down as I went along.  Then I had some thicker pink ribbon that I put around the sleeves – I made sure to use more ribbon so that it wasn’t taut but would puff up a little to give it the appearance of puffy sleeves.

Skirt

I wanted to make a skirt but ran out of time.  I chose to buy a sparkly purple running skirt from GlitterSkirts.  I do really like this style of skirt (as do many other Disney runners judging by how many I saw on the race course!).  I could have added some designs like Rapunzel’s dress with gold fabric paint but I decided to leave it in case I wanted to re-use the skirt for another costume some day.  Just keep in mind that with these types of skirts you need to wear shorts underneath as they are very see-through!  If you want to purchase a GlitterSkirt I am now a GlitterSkirts ambassador – use the code “Becky” for 20% off your order!

Headband

I love headbands, and the best one that I found for this costume was the Rapunzel style headband from RawThreads.  I love their shirts and their headbands are great too.  I like the thickness of them – when it’s cold in the morning I can pull them over my ears to keep warm, and then move it back when I get warmer.

Other

To round out my outfit I wore purple compression socks (the same ones I wore for my Esmeralda running costume!).  I also had my purple water bottle and gray flipbelt, and of course my New Balance running shoes.

While this wasn’t the most intricate costume I’ve done, I still had a lot of fun putting it together and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

Check out my other Disney running costumes that I’ve done if you’re looking for more ideas!

What do you think of my running costume?  Which characters should I consider for future RunDisney races?
